Justice Anderson is keynote speaker at Minnesota Lawyer annual luncheon

September 10, 2015. Retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Paul Anderson spoke on the importance of showing up and doing a good job in his key note speech at Minnesota Lawyer’s annual luncheon honoring Up & Coming Attorneys and Unsung Legal Heroes. He also discussed life after the bench. In addition to his role at Soule & Stull, Justice Anderson keeps a busy schedule of teaching, speaking engagements, and traveling. Full Article

Judge Natalie Hudson appointed to Minnesota Supreme Court

August 18, 2015. Governor Mark Dayton today announced his appointment of Judge Natalie Hudson to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Judge Hudson has served on the Minnesota Court of Appeals since 2002. She succeeds Justice Alan Page, who was first elected to the Supreme Court in 1992.

Governor Jesse Ventura appointed Judge Hudson to the Court of Appeals in 2002. George Soule chaired the committee that recommended Judge Hudson as a finalist for appointment to the Court of Appeals. Read More

Kevin Curry named to Court Rules & Administration Committee

k-curry-webJuly 30, 2015. Minnesota State Bar Association President Mike Unger recently appointed Kevin Curry to the MSBA’s newly formed Court Rules & Administration Committee. The committee tracks and reviews proposed court rules changes so the MSBA can provide comments to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Kevin has served on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the General Rules of Practice since 2014.

Soule & Stull Sponsors 2015 Minnesota American Indian Bar Association Scholarship Golf Tournament

July 23, 2015 – Soule & Stull sponsored a hole and fielded a foursome for the 19th Annual MAIBA Scholarship Golf Tournament at The Meadows at Mystic Lake on July 23. The tournament raises scholarship funds for American Indian law students in Minnesota. Former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Helen Meyer and Capital Safety Corporate Counsel Anton van der Merwe joined George and Melissa. It was a beautiful day on the course with magnificent water features, native prairie grasses and flowers, and animal sculptures. The foursome had great conversations and many good shots, but benefited from the “no score higher than a par” rule. George is former President of MAIBA and now serves as Judge on the White Earth Nation Court of Appeals.

June 11, 2015 – The firm sponsored a hole and fielded a foursome in the Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation Shoot for the Stars Golf Tournament on June 11. One of the firm’s founding partners is a past Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The other founding partner is actually an excellent golfer: Melissa was varsity golfer at Luther College. The Foundation is committed to serving the community, preventing crime, and supporting the Sheriff’s office, especially the volunteer Special Deputies.

Super Lawyers put George Soule and Melissa Stull on Minnesota lists of top lawyers

July 2015 – Super Lawyers placed George on its The Top 100 list of Minnesota lawyers and named Melissa a Rising Star in its 2015 rankings. George has received Super Lawyer designation each year since 1998 and Melissa has been a Rising Star for three years.

Kevin Curry and George Soule Author Article about Arbitration in Minnesota

June 2015. Kevin Curry and George Soule authored an article “See You in Court Arbitration: The Treatment of Arbitration Agreements in Minnesota Courts” in the May/June 2015 issue of Bench & Bar of Minnesota. The article reviews federal and state statutes, discusses the roles of court and arbitrator in determining whether and how an arbitration will occur, and analyzes recent cases in which a motion to compel arbitration was granted or denied. Kevin and George represent parties in arbitration proceedings and George serves as an arbitrator.

April 30, 2015. About 100 guests joined Soule & Stull staff to celebrate Spring on April 30. Judges, clients, former colleagues, friends and family enjoyed the warm Spring evening on the firm’s deck. We caught up with each other, made new friends and connections, and talked about the law a little.
