February 22, 2017. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton today appointed George to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. Minnesota State serves nearly 400,000 students at 30 colleges, 7 universities, and 54 campuses across the state. George graduated from one of these universities – Minnesota State University Moorhead – and has served on its Alumni Foundation Board. “I am excited to serve on the Board of Trustees – and to help students have opportunities for an excellent, affordable education, like I had at Moorhead State,” George said.

Governor Dayton Appoints George W. Soule to Fill a Vacancy on the Minnesota State Board of Trustees
ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of the Honorable George W. Soule to fill a vacancy on the Minnesota State Board of Trustees. Mr. Soule is replacing Margaret Anderson Kelliher, and his term will expire on June 30, 2018.
“George Soule has had a very distinguished career bringing justice and opportunity to people throughout Minnesota,” said Governor Dayton. “I believe that Mr. Soule will bring this dedication to ensuring excellent higher education and career training opportunities for all students at Minnesota State.”
George W. Soule is a judge of the White Earth Tribal Court of Appeals and a founding partner of Soule & Stull LLC, where he is a civil trial attorney handling cases involving product liability, commercial, and negligence claims. Previously, he was a founding and managing partner at Bowman and Brooke LLP, and an associate at Gray, Plant, Mooty, Mooty & Bennett. Judge Soule earned his B.A. from Moorhead State University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Judge Soule is a member of the Boards of the Division of Indian Work, Infinity Project, and the Minnesota State University Moorhead Alumni Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers, and a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Judge Soule is mentor at the University of Saint Thomas Law School and is a past Chair of the Commission on Judicial Selection.
The Minnesota State Board of Trustees is a 15-member Board responsible for governing Minnesota State’s system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations.
